We stopped in Sacramento on our way to Lake Almanor. This is Old Town...deserted except for cars.

Bumpass Hell is a collection of steaming 200-300 degree gurgling hot pools. A lone photographer captures the scene.
The steamy pools with eau de sulfer color the surrounding landscape
No geysers, just smelly steam.
Trails of hot water lead to and from the bubbling pools.
