July 3 in Corona del Mar: spectacular and open
Our Flag and Balboa Pavillion on July 4th
Flags adorn the bridge to Lido Island
Words to live by written in sand
Meanwhile, government signage takes away any possibility of enjoying your life: walk one way, don't run, don't drink...don't enjoy
Gov Nuisance demanded beach closure...but ok to fish on non socially distancing boats
Police, reluctantly patrolled overhead
...and on horseback on the Peninsula
Beach clearing by reluctant officers occurred at 9am
Difficult not to just walk through this...
Private beaches were, of course, open
High surf warnings were ignored because one should not have been there in the first place.
Yet, paddleboarders and surfers powered through the treacherous waves on Big Corona side of the Jetty
Meanwhile, at the wedge, all was glorious
And the surf was huge
Body surfers took the risk willingly
Not all ended well
But many rode waves perfedtly
Barrel rides were frequent and applauded by fans
Boogie boarding was not always successful
Awaiting the massive crunch
Surfers awaiting their wave with a group of pelicans
Meanwhile, now empty beaches were pounded by the relentless surf
